The much-anticipated journey to Andaman had long been a cherished desire among many members of the Mantra Yatra group. When Mr. Balaji, the tour organizer, announced the expedition to Andaman, eager yatris wasted no time and promptly registered for the adventure.

On the morning of February 10, 2024, excitement filled the air as all Mantra Yatris assembled at Chennai Airport by 9 AM. Mr. Balaji thoughtfully provided packed lunches for our flight, fostering a sense of camaraderie among fellow travelers. After exchanging warm greetings with familiar faces, we boarded our flight bound for Port Blair, Andaman.

Departing at 11 AM, our flight landed in Port Blair by 1 PM, where three vans awaited to whisk us away on our journey. Our inaugural day commenced with a visit to the iconic Cellular Jail, aptly dubbed 'Kala Pani.' This somber reminder of colonial oppression housed Indian freedom fighters, including Veer Sawarkar, whose sacrifices were vividly depicted within its walls. Our hearts heavy with the weight of history, we then paid homage to the Indian national flag hoisted by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in 1943, a poignant symbol of our nation's struggle for independence. Evening found us welcomed warmly at Hotel GKM Grand International by its owner, Mr. Guruswami, where we dined and rested, ready for the adventures that lay ahead.

Day 2 dawned early as we embarked on an exhilarating excursion to Baratang Island, home to mesmerizing limestone caves. Navigating through the dense Jarawa tribal forest, traversing via ferry and boat, and trekking to reach the caves tested our resolve, but the sight of nature's masterpiece within the cave made every effort worthwhile. Returning in the evening, we were moved by the poignant laser show at Cellular Jail, a poignant tribute to our freedom fighters' sacrifices.

Day 3 saw us venturing to Havelock Island, a veritable paradise boasting pristine beaches and lush forests. Basking in the tranquility of Kalapathar Beach and the enchanting allure of Radhanagar Beach, we reveled in nature's splendor, creating memories to last a lifetime.

On Day 4, we explored Ross Island, once the bastion of British colonial administration, now a haunting reminder of bygone days. Marveling at the remnants of a bygone era, we then journeyed to North Bay Island, where a semi-submersible marine adventure offered us a glimpse into the vibrant coral reefs below.

During the evening ,a surprise awaited us at the hotel as the Hotel owner Mr.Guruswami felicitated all of us and presented a shawl .He also briefed us about the history of Andaman and Nicobar islands.

Our final day began with the ladies of our group celebrating the karadaiyan nonbu festival at the Hotel premises. Then  we visited  the historic Chatham Saw Mill, a testament to Andaman's industrial heritage. This 19th-century marvel, the largest sawmill in the continent, stood as a testament to the island's rich history and contribution to global trade. We concluded our exploration with a visit to the Anthropological Museum, delving into the rich cultural tapestry of the indigenous tribes that call these islands home.

As we bid adieu to Andaman, our hearts and minds brimmed and cherished with memories and new found appreciation for the beauty and history of this enchanting archipelago.

========================
